The Study of Area, Ages 9-12

In the Montessori system, grades 4-6 are equivalent to the upper elementary level. Therefore, our new set of task cards, The Study of Surface Area, is classified as a 9-12-year-old material. However, basic calculations such as measuring a square or a rectangle can be introduced in the late lower elementary years.

Fractions with Degrees Activity Set, Ages 9-12

Help your learners create new connections between fractional parts and angle measurements!  In the early elementary years, Montessori learners explore various names to describe angles.

Inscribed and Concentric Figures, Age 5+

INSCRIBED AND CONCENTRIC FIGURES

Our new complete set for the classic sensorial Montessori material, Wooden Inscribed and Concentric Figures Premium Quality, is sure to engage learners in exploring various patterns and combinations of shapes, thanks to our newly created task cards! What are the benefits of working with the Inscribed and Concentric Figures?   There are many benefits to using […]

Mathematics Task Cards, Common Core, Grade 1

Mathematics Task Cards, Common Core Grade 1

In this post, we would like to share with you Mathematics Grade 1 Common Core Task Cards. This post will guide you through understanding how children can practice and demonstrate their math skills using our Task Cards. The Task Cards are used with the Montessori materials and will help children meet and exceed expectations from States standards.

Study of Congruence, Similarities, and Equivalence

Geometry 6-12 In the early years of their education, Montessori learners are exposed to an abundance of materials that indirectly refine the mathematical mind formation. Perhaps the most impactful material is the set of Constructive Triangles. They consist of five boxes with various shapes filled with colorful shapes. Out of small parts, children explore different […]

Geometric Stick Box and Classified Geometry Nomenclature Cards

Geometric Stick Box and Classified Geometry Nomenclature Cards

Dr. Montessori believed in introducing Geometry to preschool-aged children. Her way to achieve this was by using children’s senses as a vehicle for learning.  In the primary level, children explore geometry through the manipulation of sensorial materials which include the Geometric Solids, the Geometric Cabinet, the Constructive Triangles, and the Blue Constructive Triangles.  Concepts are […]

Measurement Curriculum 6-12

MONTESSORI MEASUREMENT CURRICULUM 6-12

Measurements are part of our daily lives. Children, especially in Montessori programs, have already been indirectly working with measurements. They learn time through their daily routine. They learn weight using calibrated materials (Pink Tower, Brown Prisms, Knobbed Cylinders…). They learn length when manipulating materials such as Red Rods and Numerical Rods. They observe volume when […]

Geometric Solids 3-6, 6-9

Math

Shape discrimination is a natural ability in humans that Dr. Montessori has refined in children using Geometric Solids. This refinement can later be translated in other fields such as writing and reading. The Geometric Solids begin as a sensorial material (3+) and continue to be explored in the elementary years for their mathematical attributes.
