Presidents of the United States, Ages 6-9

Presidents of the United States Complete Set is a new and exciting material at Alison’s Montessori that will enrich your students’ or children’s learning experience and inspire them to learn more about the history and the leaders of the United States. Our new material consists of two large charts, 46 labels, and corresponding research cards.

Our new material supports learners’ development of historical thinking and civic awareness, as they learn about the role and responsibilities of the president, the changes and continuity in American society and politics, and the diversity and complexity of the presidential experience. While using the research cards, learners also develop curiosity and interest in American history and culture, as they discover the stories and personalities of the presidents, their achievements and challenges, and their connections to the present and the future. In addition, the research cards enhance learners’ skills in reading, writing, research, and presentation, as they use the research cards as a starting point for further investigation and communication of their findings and opinions.

This material is suitable for learners ages 8-12, who have a basic understanding of the concept of president and the structure of the American government. The material can be adapted to different levels of difficulty and complexity, depending on the learners’ needs and interests. For example, younger students can focus on the names and faces of the presidents solely using the control and mute charts with labels, while older students can learn about events and issues of each presidency using the research cards.

Materials

Material Three Components

– A large informed chart that displays the portraits, names, dates, and parties of all 46 presidents from George Washington to Joe Biden. The chart is made of no-tear synthetic material that will withstand intense usage. It can be rolled up and stored conveniently in the cultural area of the classroom. – A mute chart with labels that has the same layout as the informed chart, but with blank spaces for the labels of the presidents. The labels are provided separately.  Learners may first complete the entire mute chart by simply copying from the informed chart.  To facilitate learning, learners may work by chucks; they may select to study 6-7 presidents at a time, for consecutive days. This allows the students to practice their memory and recognition skills, as well as to learn the chronological order of the presidents.

– 46 research cards that provide more detailed information about each president, such as presidency dates, accomplishments, nicknames, challenges, and legacy. The cards also include pictures and activities that encourage the students to explore further and to reflect on the impact of each president on the nation and the world.

In conclusion, the integration of Montessori principles into the study of U.S. presidents through well-designed material comprising an informed chart, a mute chart with labels, and research cards proves to be an engaging and effective approach for learners ages 8-12. By providing a hands-on learning experience, our new material not only imparts historical knowledge but also nurtures a sense of curiosity and independent exploration. Through these carefully crafted materials, your learners can grasp the complexities of presidential history while developing critical research skills. Our Montessori material, Presidents of the United States, serves as a valuable asset, fostering a love for learning and instilling a deep understanding of the democratic foundations of the United States in the hearts of our future leaders!
